Liberals & Democrats Support and Admiration for US Troops

DEMOCRATS SUPPORT of US TROOPS

Democrats in the US House & US Senate have repeatedly said they support US troops but what do they really think when they are not pandering to the media? Do they really support US troops that risk their lives and sometimes pay the ultimate sacrifice to defend and preserve freedom and the American way? See their own words for yourself:

JOHN KERRY
"They told the stories at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country." "There is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children" John Kerry 12/4/2005 http://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/pdf/face_120405.pdf Video

DICK DURBIN
"describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime" Dick Durbin 6/14/2005 Senator Richard J. Durbin
Al Jazeera ran this story front page for 2 weeks following Durbin's remarks> Aljazeera.Net - US senator stands by Nazi remark

HOWARD DEAN
"Saying the idea that we're going to win the war in Iraq is an idea which is just plain wrong," Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean 12/6/2005

On November 18, 2005, The House voted 403-3 to reject a nonbinding resolution calling for an immediate troop withdrawal.

"Our troops have become the enemy. We need to change direction in Iraq," John Murtha 11/18/2005

"US Marines had killed innocent (IRAQI) civilians in cold blood" John Murtha 5/18/2006 Army Times - Murtha: Marines killed Haditha civilians in cold blood
NOTE: The incident is still under investigation by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and Multi-National Forces Iraq.

Concerning the Haditha alleged massacre by U.S. Marines of Iraqi civilians, John Murtha said: "and the longer it goes, the worse it is for us, because it looks like it's the policy of our troops to do something like this." John Murtha May 30, 2006 CNN.com - Transcripts

LIBERAL MEDIA SUPPORT FOR US TROOPS

Thus far, the Liberal Media has expressed their support and admiration for US Troops by staging fake photos of US Airstrikes in Pakistan, lying about a KORAN being flushed, and falsely running Abu Ghraib photos .

New York Times Abu Ghraib Photos March 11, 2006
The New York Times identified the wrong man as the hooded prisoner standing on a box in a photograph that came to symbolize U.S. military abuses at Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison. The newspaper's March 11 profile about Ali Shalal Qaissi was challenged and an Army investigation had concluded the prisoner was a different man.

Airstrike by U.S. Draws Protests From Pakistanis New York Times 1/14/06 NewYorkTimes.com staged a photo to draw protest over U.S. Air strikes in Pakistan.

NEWSWEEK May 9, 2005
NEWSWEEK alleged that U.S. personnel at the Guantánamo Bay prison camp had damaged a copy of the Qur'an by putting it in a toilet in order to torment the prison's Muslim captives.

Historical US Military Facts

  • The United States of America has been involved in a major conflict (be it foreign or domestic) 49 of its 229-year existence.
  • 382,424 Americans have died preserving the Union.
  • 619,376 Americans have died when answering the world's call to fight in its wars.
  • 621,448 Americans have died on foriegn soil.
  • 623,026 Americans died in their own civil war.
  • 1,267,046 Americans have given their lives in service to the United States of America.

Now I ask you this: Would all these anti-war liberals have the right and freedom of speech to bash the War in Iraq or accuse US Troops of heinous war crimes if it were not for the 1,267,046 Americans (including the 2470 who died in IRAQ) giving their lives to protect and defend freedoms and the American way?

Interesting post. I believe all politicians, especially at the federal level, are out of touch with the troops. The support is just talk. However, just think what a draft would do for American opinions of these operations in the Middle East and of the troops in general.

I think there are many Americans (politicians included) who are generally complacent and couldn't really give a care about the troops. It doesn't affect them first hand. This is, afterall a volunteer military. Only Americans who choose to go there are there.

A draft would engage everyone in this conflict.
